Moonshine Rod & Custom Club
Moonshine Rod & Custom Club was formed in 1981 by its inaugural president David Nankivell and a few mates with a common passion for hot rodding and performance vehicles.
The club takes it''s name from Moonshine Road in Upper Hutt, which probably harks back to some history of illegal liquor, much like the early origins of hot rodding in the US.
In the early days we were well known for our 'Rolla-Bolla' weekends where we ran a hot rod display whilst the entrants participated in an inter-club ten pin bowling competition.
For several years we ran closed road drag racing in Alexander Road, Trentham.
We have always supported local community events like the Upper Hutt summer carnival and have participated in local Christmas parades. Since the new millennium we have held the Moonshine American Vehicle Day at the Trentham racecourse on the first Sunday of February every year. This has become our benchmark event and is one of the lower North Island's biggest car events on the calendar. The proceeds of this event has enabled us to make many generous donations to local charities and organisations.
Moonshine Rod & Custom Club prides itself on being a family friendly club and welcomes any future members to its fold.
